Why have we instilled this policy when many of these items do not contain lead?
Because when it comes to our kids, it is better to be safe than sorry.
While Sterling Silver jewelry poses no danger from lead, many of the genuine stone items in Sterling Silver settings should not be ingested.
Then there is also the issue of knowing the exact origin or content of every bead.
Beads have a long history on our planet, and can range from man-made glass decorations to the seeds harvested from a grass found in Africa. The variety that makes them so beautiful can also make them dangerous for children to place in their mouths.
